Qualifying for the 24-hour race wasn’t without its difficulties. Both LFAs suffered significant body damage, necessitating long overnight repair sessions. Unfortunately the rebuilds left the team with precious few body parts for the race itself. Had either car sustained panel damage during the race then retirement would have been almost inevitable. So it was with a great deal of trepidation that LFA number 50 and LFA number 51 lined-up on the grid in 25th and 28th positions respectively to tackle the famed 24-hour endurance race. Working within an environment of ‘preservation’ and with a view on the 24 hours to come, the LFAs fell back slightly in the early laps to 36th and 37th. However by lap 19 they’d risen to 14th and 20th overall and were beginning to settle in for the long haul. The optimism in the camp was given a dose of endurance reality as both cars later suffered different braking issues, and then LFA number 51 suffered an oil pump failure after around 9 hours. It later rejoined the race following 11hours repair, but was not classified. By then LFA 50 had dropped to 61st position and started the long climb back up the leaderboard. For the remainder of the race it ran faultlessly as the team of 4 Japanese drivers combined to push the car further and further up the field, regularly posting lap times amongst the top 10 fastest cars on track, with a best of just over 8’ 55” (average speed of 170km/h) The hard work of the team and the drivers was rewarded when LFA 50 crossed the line after 24 hours, taking 18th place overall and 1st place in the SP8 class. Also running at the 24 hour race was a Lexus IS F entered by Team World Car Awards. After sitting out the second qualifying session whilst a fuel pump issue was repaired, the IS F started the race from 172nd place. It regularly posted lap times of around 10 minutes and progressively rose through the rankings over the course of the race to finish a very impressive 59th overall, and 4th in the SP8 class. Little known fact about Lexus at the Nürburgring 24h race Five years ago, a Lexus RX 400h full hybrid successfully completed, finishing 79th overall. It was the first Lexus to compete at the Nürburgring, and the first hybrid to finish the 24-hour race. ...si, l'avevo letto... Bè, è davvero un ottimo risultato... Spero solo che se iniziano ad avere un pò di rilevanza nello sport si muovano a far uscire FT-86 e varie... |

Non ci contare... anzi, pare che abbiano stravolto il design esterno e il progetto della Ft sara' addirittura posticipato... "on top" pare che gli alti papaveri temano che il momento non sia propizio per questo tipo di auto...onestamente su questo punto non sono del tutto in disaccordo... |

Lexus e' il brand "premium" di Toyota, questo significa che deve eccellere in tutti i settori, quindi non solo in quello del lusso ma anche in quello delle performances... |
