Posted - 13 May 2008 : 16:30:27 Hello, I was last time not very often online here but I think there are some news you perhaps be interested. I did a new engine project in germany and changed my 3S-GE against a 3VZ-FE from the Toyota Camry. This was 1,5 years of work but it was the best I make ever.
facts: - 3L V6 engine max 7200rpm - only 30kg more wheigt. - 210hp at 6550upm and 247Nm at 5570upm (made a litle selfmade headwork) - only 0,5L more fuel need then the 3S-GE - Top speed 231km/h with 3S-GE tranny, more is possible with longer 5 gear - Elasticity between 45-102% better then my old 3S-GE you can drive in 5 gear at 30km/h... - fit 100% into the MR2 W2 enigne bay.
With this engine the MR2 is a total different car. Now cruising and race with the same engine is possible and the sound is great.
My MR2:

V6 vs. 3S-GE

The V6 inside my car:

dynorun 175hp 3S-GE against my new 3VZ-FE

Here is a short video of my first engine start: http://www.mein-mr2.de/Bilder/V6-Motor/Videos/1%20Lauf.WMV and the dyno run of the V6: http://www.mein-mr2.de/Filme/3VZ-FE%20Leistungsmessung.wmv
Hope you like it?! If you want more informations please contact me under black-chili@t-online.de Perhaps I come this year to italy to make holidays in the alps, if you like to look my car contact me too. |

Posted - 06 Jun 2008 : 15:16:10 Here is now the first picture of my V6 install set. There are 10 parts which are not on the picture because they are not finished until now. One of this is the big new exhaust pipe system.

If you will see my car come to our biggest german MR2 meeting (around 100MR2) from 25-27.07.2008 at Duderstadt. More infos at www.mr2forum.de or http://www.mr-zwo.de (under construction)
The hood is from Makrolon, I make it myself but it is not realy less wheigt then the steel hood.

Besides the engine I see that it has look a much aggressive one.
Question: Where you have taken the rear hood? I think that the stock it's much heavy. |

Posted - 18 May 2008 : 18:01:23 mmmhhh switzerland is much more difficult with another engine as germany, I know many poeple in switzerland and for them it is unpossible to install the V6 engine.
I make this year an european exhaust gas test for Euro2 this must be accept in all EU countries.
wheels are in germany no problem, I drive 7x17" front and 8x18" rear; strut bars you must ask nobody in germany, because they change nothing at the car; spoilers there you need a law paper, but engines you must make special test, they cost around 3000€ per engine. |

Posted - 16 May 2008 : 13:10:45 We may to go to the motor-country... SWITZERLAND! In Italy (Trentino indeed), the quality of exaust gas is also a tool to stop tuned cars... but here, laws are always against wheels, spoilers, estetic works in general... You know... where the law arrive, you hope to find an intelligent and charitable authority!! |

Posted - 16 May 2008 : 12:13:16 At Südtirol I see many tuned cars like in germany, perhaps they have different law like in italy!?
In germany is the exhaust gas the problem. I must make a very expensive test to show that I reach Euro 1 or Euro 2. But this test will be a standart test and all other EU countries musst accept this test.

Yes, the torque is great, I can drive now 30km/h at 5 gear without use the throttle...
Is there any MR2 tuning garage in italy who can make a V6 swap for you, perhaps we can make a cooperation. I produce all parts you need for the swap but I can not install the engines. How is it in italy with the law? We in germany have big problems with engine swaps. I know http://www.rabanser-tuning.it/ near Bozen, perhaps I speak with him next time about this.
@ Alex82 Yes, perhaps I can come to your meeting, is it big, we have around 100 MR2 at our biggest meeting. It is near Trento correct? Please tell me the exact date of the meeting, if I have luck I´am this time in holidays in Südtirol/Brixen again. I drive every year to Südtirol for hiking.
Here in Italy the law is completely against any form of tuning, you can be verbalized if you have only a led or a little spoiler or a dome bar...!! But... anyway, ccoperations are always interesting, here we have lots of preparators and garages with very "heavy bollocks" and i think if you make a detailed guide, every MK2owners will be liked and enjoyed to do this job! I have the third model...
In this meeting i think it will be present about twenty cars, in the worst situation, due to the decentrated location this will be better called a "North Italy meeting"... Madonna di Campiglio is about 1:15 hour from Trento and an hour and a half from Bozen... In the next months you will found every information you need! |
